I have found a very easy and cute heart, to applique in littlebirdiesecrets blog:

Crocheted Heart Pattern

Supplies used: use any size hook/yarn you have on hand
All stitches worked into the first chain.
Ch 4. Work 3 tr (triple crochet) into first ch, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr. Ch 3, sl st into center and fasten off.

I will use it for a new toy, maybe i will show it next year :)

Biscornu Pincushion

This pincushion is a very simple pattern but looks marvelous.

Eight-sided, it is made by setting two squares at right angles to each other. 
The corners of one square are sewn to the centers of the sides of the other square. 

I used an easy lace to decorate it.

Update: I changed the lace. I also made a new and smaller pincushion with the same pattern but in different color, and I used some beads, too.
